  • Creative Writing (Purdue OWL)
    These resources can help with the basics of creative writing. The site includes resources on writing poetry, fiction, and creative nonfiction.
  • Kentucky Book Fair
    A link to the blog for the annual Kentucky Book Fair (usually scheduled during November, in Frankfort, KY). Each year about 150 authors attend and thousands of participants stop by to hear readings and more.
  • Kentucky Literary Newsletter
    Sign up for this newsletter sent via email that features local literary news, links, writers' groups, book discussion groups, and more.
  • Kentucky Women Writers Conference
    The Kentucky Women Writers Conference (which takes place in Lexington, KY, usually in September) is the longest running literary festival of women in the nation. Launched by the University of Kentucky in 1979, it has become a premier destination for the celebration of women's arts and letters.
  • Kentucky Writers Day
    The Kentucky Arts Council presents Kentucky Writers’ Day on or around April 24 each year in the Capitol Rotunda in Frankfort. Citizens devoted to the literary arts gather to hear readings from Kentucky’s current and former poets laureate and recitations by Kentucky’s young Poetry Out Loud state champions. The festivities include a public reception where visitors can mingle with the authors and others who share their interests.
  • National Novel Writing Month
    National Novel Writing Month (November) pushes you to write 50,000 words in 30 days. On November 1, participants begin working towards the goal of writing a 50,000-word novel by 11:59 p.m. on November 30.
  • The Carnegie Center for Literacy and Learning
    Empowering people to explore and express their voices through imaginative learning and the literary arts.
  • Writer's Digest
    Articles about writing, information about writing conferences and contests, as well as educational materials for writers can be found at the Writer's Digest site.
